Recreational Fires
The Logan Township Fire Departments, Newburg, Kittanning Trail, Lakemont, Greenwood and United recommend you have recreational fires safely.
The Township expects you to be responsible when you, the homeowner, have a fire.
Recreational Fires are the Only Fires Permitted in the Township
- Only have a fire on non-windy days and when ground cover is not dry.
- Burn only permitted materials: firewood, non-recyclable paper, corrugated paper, and non-recyclable cardboard (cereal boxes). All other materials are prohibited, including leaves, foliage waste, grass clippings, plastic, newspaper, garbage and any substance which interferes with the reasonable enjoyment of life or property or is detrimental to human or animal health.
- Do not leave the fire unattended and have a source of water and a rake available in case fire spreads.
- If the fire does spread, immediately call 911. The sooner the fire department is notified, the sooner the fire will be properly extingushed and damage kept to a minimum.
