Remember, burn responsibly!

The Logan Township Fire Departments, Newburg, Kittanning Trail, Lakemont, Greenwood and United recommend you burn safely.

The Township expects you to be responsible when you, the homeowner, burn. All homeowners should obey the following Logan Township burning ordinance 01-02-92:

  1. Only burn on permitted days and times: Tuesdays from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  2. Only burn on non-windy days and when ground cover is not dry.
  3. Burn only permitted materials: non-recyclable paper, corrugated paper, and non-recyclable cardboard (cereal boxes). All other materials are prohibited, including leaves, foliage waste, grass clippings, plastic, newspaper, garbage and any substance which interferes with the reasonable enjoyment of life or property or is detrimental to human or animal health.
  4. Burn in a metal barrel or cement ring with a screen on top to keep burning embers from flying out.
  5. Do not leave the fire unattended and have a source of water and a rake available in case fire spreads.
  6. If the fire does spread from the barrel, immediately call 911. The sooner the fire department is notified, the sooner the fire will be properly extingushed and damage kept to a minimum.
