Blair Region Uniform Construction Code Board of Appeals Process

For the following municipalities in Blair County:  Antis Township, Blair Township, Catharine Township, Frankstown Township, Freedom Township, Greenfield Township, Huston Township, Logan Township, North Woodbury Township, Taylor Township, Tyrone Township, Woodbury Township, Bellwood Borough, Duncansville Borough, Hollidaysburg Borough, Martinsburg Borough, Roaring Spring Borough, Tyrone Borough, and Williamsburg Borough.

If you are filing a building permit in one of the municipalities listed above, and need to request an appeal, variance or extension of time, please follow this process.

1.   Complete the Blair Region Uniform Construction Code (UCC) Board of Appeals Petition found on the Logan Township website under Residents.

2.   Submit the petition, and a check (made payable to Logan Township) in the amount of $1,500 to Logan Township, 100 Chief Logan Circle, Altoona, PA  16602

3.   Logan Township staff will handle all aspects of the hearing.

4.   The hearing will be modeled after a Zoning Hearing Board meeting.

5.   Logan Township staff will contact the applicant, and Appeals Board to select a date for the hearing.

6.   Once a date is selected, the hearing will be advertised, the solicitor and stenographer will be scheduled.

7.   Logan Township staff will be responsible for preparing the meeting agenda, and prepare minutes of the meeting.  The solicitor will prepare the decision for signature by the Appeals Board.

8.   A copy of the decision shall be sent to the applicant as well as the municipality for which the meeting was being held.

9.   Logan Township staff will maintain record of agendas, minutes and decisions of the Appeals Board.
